Re: Texas-Oklahoma reach out to SECThat might mean Cincinnati, Memphis, SMU, and Houston to the Big 12.
Re: Texas-Oklahoma reach out to SECThat would be great news for SMU if it happened and adding SMU and Houston would help create perfect divisions.
SMU TCU Baylor Texas Tech Houston Oklahoma State Kansas Kansas State Iowa State West Virginia Cincinnati Memphis They could bump up to 14 with UCF and USF or even 16 with BYU and Boise State/Colorado State
Re: Texas-Oklahoma reach out to SECThe Big 12 is not where SMU needs to be.. they have no long term plan, no big 12 network and truthfully nothing to offer without OU and Texas. That's why Texas and OU are leaving. SMU would be smart to look around if at all possible and maybe package themselves w Houston
What we obtain too cheap.. we esteem too lightly. It is persistence alone that gives everything its value.
Re: Texas-Oklahoma reach out to SEC
These 12 teams would be perfect, 2 new teams for each division, and enough regional rivalries.
Re: Texas-Oklahoma reach out to SECSaw mention on ESPN. I can’t believe UT would humble themselves enough to eat the terms that the SEC would dictate. UT is the middle aged former hot chick.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
Re: Texas-Oklahoma reach out to SECDidn't think OU could go anywhere without taking OSU with them. Would ut give up their network? With playoff expansion, this might actually hurt OU and UT if they have 3-4 SEC losses as compared to 1 loss big 12 season.

And package themselves with Houston where exactly?
Re: Texas-Oklahoma reach out to SECI actually prefer AAC to that conference. We’d be leaving Navy, UCF, USF, Tulane and Temple. All in better TV markets than Manhattan, Lubbock, Waco, Stillwater, Morgantown, Ames and Lawrence.

Re: Texas-Oklahoma reach out to SECPersonal theory - this is being driven by ESPN to get out of the Longhorn Contract and to force everyone to 4 16 team conferences and keep the playoff at 4 teams.
I'm starting to think A&M leaked it to stop it from happening. Reality - I don't think it will happen because the Longhorn Network contract is too big. ESPN would have to pay a huge buyout for the switch to make economic sense for UT. But we will see. For SMU - the Big 12 as it stands has no commercial value. UT blamed the SWC for their lack of national success and ran to the Big 12, and it looks like they are doing the same thing here. IF this thing moves to 4 huge conferences, there is no way SMU should join the Big 12, because it is quickly going to fall apart as the northern teams get absorbed by the Big 10. Even if things don't move in that direction, they would be better off in the AAC and picking and choosing what Big 12 schools they would like to join the conference.
Re: Texas-Oklahoma reach out to SECThe Big XII still holds the rights to better bowl games, better tv contracts, more money, road games within driving distances against traditional historic rivals. It would be a no-brainer for SMU. The AAC is no more stable than what would be left of the Big XII. Cincinnati is not in the American because of its stability. Cincinnati is in the American because the ACC preferred Louisville. The MWC is not talked about because nobody wants any of the schools in that conference. Our conference is talked about because we have some valuable schools. You go to the best possible destination and enjoy it as long as it lasts. You think TCU regrets joining the Big XII instead of the AAC?
Re: Texas-Oklahoma reach out to SECSome days, you just gotta love those Aggies.
"Bjork, meanwhile, went on an anti-Texas campaign, boldly politicking against any move that brings into the conference their archrival and encouraging the league to look for a more “broad” approach to expansion. Bjork’s appearance at media days was a surprise and a historical rarity here. SEC athletic directors do not normally attend media days." https://www.newsbreak.com/news/23174825 ... -texas-a-m "It’s hard to overstate how impressive SMU has been on the recruiting trail since the ACC announced the Mustangs would be joining the league”

Re: Texas-Oklahoma reach out to SECI think it's hilarious that UT crapped their own bed, and now they want to jump into someone else's.

Re: Texas-Oklahoma reach out to SECAggy gonna aggy.
With the expansion of the playoffs incoming at some point, best spot for SMU could actually be the AAC. The Big 12 will crumble
Re: Texas-Oklahoma reach out to SECI would think if they go 4 16 team conferences, they will stay at 4 team playoff. Honestly need 5 16 team conferences to include everyone that needs to be included.
