Bentley IV Named To CFPA Watch List
CHARLESTON, S.C. (CFPA/SMU) – For the second consecutive season, Ulysses Bentley IV is listed on the Watch List for the CFPA National Player of the Year Trophy.
A member of the Maxwell Award and Doak Walker Award Watch Lists in 2021, Bentley IV returns as the Mustangs' top running back from 2020. Bentley IV earned Freshman All-America honors from the FWAA and Rookie of the Year honors from the American Athletic Conference last season.
In 10 games, Bentley IV led The American with 913 rushing yards (18th NCAA) and 11 rushing touchdowns (17th NCAA). The 11 TDs set the SMU freshman single-season record, and his 12 total TDs made him one of only two freshmen in the country with 10+ TDs. He scored his first seven TDs in the opening three games of the season, which tied for the sixth most in a three-game span at SMU.
The Houston, Texas, native also led the Mustangs with 1,087 all-purpose yards (4th AAC), which included 174 receiving yards.
