Lose to TCU and NY 6 Bowl Game is out the window for this year......and that applies to any G5 team. A G5 teams must go 12-0 to get invited to a NY6 Bowl Game.

Soo...the TCU game is really really important for SMU. Cant lose it and still go to a Bigtime Bowl Game.

And....this is the toughest game on SMUs entire schedule this year.

Not true, 2015 Houston lost to UConn and still won the Peach Bowl.

If we lose to TCU, but go undefeated in conference and win the championship, we'll still likely go to a New Years Day Bowl unless BYU continues to run the table. They have about 4 P5 games left on their schedule.

Kind of like how back in 2014, TCU lost 1 game all season and went to the Peach Bowl. Seems like a similar result from the Big 12 and the AAC.

I'm old enough to remember the time where SMU beat TCU in Ft. Worth and knocked them out of BCS championship sending the Frogs to the Poinsetta Bowl to play Sonny Dykes' Louisiana Tech team (a game that they barely won).

Your correct - My mistake - I was not talking about one of the 30+ bowl games that does not impact the National Championship - the bowl game that the winner of the B12 will go - aka the leftovers bowl(s) that happens to be between Dec 30th and Jan 1st labeled NY6 - which are very different than the 10 other bowls not labeled NY6 that occur between Dec 30th and Jan 1.

Also, it's not the most important game to either team. Yes, we want to beat Froggy High, and the Frogs want to beat us. A lot of players know each other, bragging rights, etc.

But if the loser of this game runs through their respective conference, you can bet that Gary Patterson or Sonny Dykes would be ecstatic about that outcome.
