Speaking of doing things "the right way" ...Since Gary Patterson said/implied that he was less than impressed with the way the Mustangs handled themselves in Saturday's SMU win at TCU ...
I have the good fortune to have a great view of every game, as SMU Radio's sideline reporter. Fans, especially students, tend to let visiting teams hear it from the seats right behind the visiting bench — happens in every stadium across the country. TCU was no different. The student section at Amon Carter Stadium is right on top of the visitors' bench (many fields, like SMU's Gerald J. Ford Stadium have a buffer zone between the back of the bench and the visiting team, which affords players and coaches to filter out some of the sound coming down from the seats). TCU fans were fairly loud from start to finish, telling the Mustangs that the Frogs were going to win, yada yada yada ... and as would be expected, those fans got frustrated late in the game as the Frogs' chances to come back started to dwindle. Many fans stuck to fairly routine comments, but their frustration brought out the nasty side in some of them, who started yelling some much more harsh comments ... and I'm sure Patterson would commend the Mustangs for the ways in which they responded. The vast majority that I saw said nothing, choosing instead to point at the scoreboard and let the score do the talking. A few waved, a few cracked jokes, one player blew kisses at the TCU fans. The players are college students and the coaches are grown adults, so it's not like they have never heard the words that were sent their way Saturday. But we all have seen instances in which players showed poor judgement in their responses, and if Patterson is going to complain about how the Mustangs acted after the game, it seemed only fair to point out the Mustangs' classy response down the stretch of the game's final minutes. PonyFans.com ... is really the premier place for Mustang talk on the Web.

Re: Speaking of doing things "the right way" ...If you look to the right of the flag, you will see an SMU player and a TCU player enjoying a warm embrace.

A lot of these guys played high school ball with or against each other so I'm sure there are some close friendships
Re: Speaking of doing things "the right way" ...It's nice. My other daughter played on the junior golf circuit and made friends from all over the world. Every college tournament was like a reunion!

You might see in another thread that the TCU players faced down the SCHMOOO Thugs who tried to plant the flag and the TCU players ripped the flag outta the hands of the SCHMMOOOO players and threw it away and dared them to stay there on the field.......as the SCHMOOOO guys slinked off. Watch how funny it is to see the SCHMMOOOs back down and slither away. HILARIOUS !!
Re: Speaking of doing things "the right way" ...
They broke it on purpose? That wasn't necessary. Hopefully they will do the classy thing and pay for the damages.
Re: Speaking of doing things "the right way" ...
Slinked off? What game did you watch? A few SMU guys went to the logo with the flag. A few TCU players ... let's call it "objected" — as just about anyone would. Emotions were running hot, words were exchanged a few shoves. If there were punches thrown, I didn't see them. Most of the interactions I saw between players from the two teams looked overwhelmingly civil, and in some cases, even friendly. Maybe they were high school teammates or something. There was no "slinking" by the Mustangs. They were ecstatic, as they should have been after beating a good team and a rival. They were congratulating each other and running to interact with fans. It's unfortunate that the assistant coach hit the deck, regardless of how he ended up there. Hope he's OK. Let's not act like the Mustangs started WWIII. When both teams want to win, emotions will flow, and they did. That's it.
Re: Speaking of doing things "the right way" ...This frog just can’t take the fact SMU is a better team and has been so for the last three years and looks to continue being better for years to come.
Re: Speaking of doing things "the right way" ...SMU "SLINKED AWAY" for 350 yards all over Amon Carter Stadium.
Butt-hurt over a flag...sheesh. stable-boy for the four horsemen of the apocalypse
Re: Speaking of doing things "the right way" ...
What BS Purple Overposter. I had a bet with a TCU QB from the early 2000's, and his response by text was " you dominated us " . Nuff said.
Re: Speaking of doing things "the right way" ...Our team looked better conditioned, bigger, faster, and much better coached than TCU. Fatterson needs therapy, a lot of it.
Re: Speaking of doing things
Anybody bringing up an incident about grass seed - 21 years ago - needs some couch time.
Re: Speaking of doing things "the right way" ...So, go back and look at the picture of the SMU player running with the flag on a pole. Do you notice that the pole has a black rubber handle on the bottom? That pole can not be planted without digging a hole and placing it inside. You need a spear to plant a flag not a PVC pipe with rubber handle.
TOTAL hype - Fake tcwhoo news. But then again - That what we have been getting for years. Mustang Militia: Fight the good fight"
Re: Speaking of doing things "the right way" ...
My favorite quote from a TCU fan was is must have been offensive players that stopped SMU from planting the flag because we know their defense couldn't stop us! ![]()
Re: Speaking of doing things "the right way" ...I feel bad for TCU.
Must be frustrating. Pay Lashlee more money
