Some nice reporting from the Daily Campus.

‘I have no clue if this is going to work’: Running back T.J. McDaniel chose an alternative recovery process over surgery. Nearly a year later, he’s still not playing.

Wow, I had wondered where TJ was at with his recovery but had no idea this was going on behind the scenes. It's a crazy story and I personally feel bad for TJ that he's essentially acting as a guinea pig for an experimental treatment his brother (Cam) is pushing that Cam himself literally compared to 'Marvel and Wakanda.'

Ultimately I think I commend Sonny for putting the success of his football team secondary to the wishes of one of his players, but you have to think that Sonny and every doctor/surgeon that was consulted thinks this is a Looney Tunes decision.

There are too many parallels between this story and vaccine mandates to be ignored, so let the arguments on either side commence...

Cool, so he decided for "religious reasons" to refuse surgery for a common and fixable injury. Should have been out 6 months now its at least 12. Maybe its my bias but it reads like Sonny isnt too happy about the decisions either...

Pretty dumb decision on his part. His brother sounds like a snake oil salesman, nothing more nothing less.

Oh by here comes the anti-individual choice crowd. Whether we see what he did was dumb is irrelevant. It's his life and ultimately his decision. Also, it's the coach's decision to cut his scholarship as well.

Unlike the vaccine, this procedure has been done for years upon years with a proven long-term success rate. Personally, there's no reason to pick an experimental procedure over a proven procedure. What I think people need to realize is there was a familial pressure and he probably has a ton of love and trust for his brother. I don't think it was a religious request but rather a family request.

Did you miss where the family said it was partially for religious reasons?

And unlike the vaccine, his decision doesn't effect anyone else but him.

Didn't state what and how it was related to his religious beliefs but it can be used disingenuously rather it looks like he simply trusted his brother.

Unlike the healing machine, the vaccine is proven to work on its intended target and isn't being used in another way it was never intended to be used.

Instead of surgery, McDaniel decided to use an electrical machine made by his brother’s company to heal his injury. The device, normally used to stimulate muscles, was untested on severe injuries such as broken bones, and his brother had no medical background.

The vaccine works and hospitals are lined with unvaccinated people dying of covid and hogging ICU beds away from people who need them because a newscaster told them to exercise their freedumb to die.

Anyway, sucks to be him because his family just ruined his football career and he trusted them not to fudge him over.

More from the article of the guy who started this snake oil machine:

Throughout the 2017 season, McDaniel became engrossed with Montoya’s theory that “all disease in the body amounts to a lack of correct electrical flow.” Montoya is not a doctor. He was a global studies major at Wilfrid Laurier, a Canadian university.

Let's just say I better not meet this man or he'll be missing some electrical flow.

I love when people mock freedom and rather be on the authoritarian side. Yikes.

Feel free to talk about "breakthrough cases", problem in Israel and natural immunity being superior to the vaccine. Follow Der ScIeNcE.

I love freedom of choice. Personally, I'm trusting in COVID to eliminate the stupid.

Not true. The absence of any talented player reduces the chance of winning. Maybe not today, but against Cincinnati or Houston or someone it could. That impacts teammates and coaches. It's hard to believe SMU signed off on this without a waiver.

No surprise but regardless of vaccine status, it's still old and fat people that are going.
