Need to Work on our Secondary

USF had guys running free all day, getting behind our corners

TCU had guys beating us on the corner...

Lucky for us Duggan and Timmy can't hit a deep pass to save their lives...but when we go up against a poised QB that can actually throw, we would be in trouble.

It has not cost us yet, but we need to revisit our defensive scheme in the back third.

Keep them in front of us and not give up a big play to a team that can actually throw and catch.

how about we bring the defense up on the line and press the receivers and then they don't have the timing down to be where they're supposed to be because somebody knocked them off their rocker no cushion.

What CB would you suggest play press coverage? Crossley seems to be thre best now, and McMorris will rise to the top, but Sonny needs to sign a bunch of corners and safeties in a hurry.

DMN tweeted that Chevin Calloway was on the sideline and could come back. Can't come back soon enough.

Agreed, against Memphis it will cost us. Against Cincy it will certainly cost us. Maybe Houston. Maybe even Tulane.

After watching cincy-n.d. I am afraid that they will shred our D with their passing and shut down our O because TM takes too long to get rid of the ball. Hope I am wrong but I was impressed with Ridder and the O plus their D was very aggressive.

We called a very generic game plan today. It is very clear with this coaching staff that we like to take a standard approach and then only adjust when we absolutely have to. In the game today, we did just that. When they started to threaten a little in the third, we called a couple of blitzes and played the CBs tight.

I would look at it this way - the coaches have so much confidence in this team, that they don't feel the need to scheme. They just let them play and adjust as they need to as the game goes on.

Rogers need to learn and grow as a CB. As long as we are winning, they are going to put him in situations where he is isolated for the deep ball so that he can learn, because he has the speed and athleticism to cover it properly.

McMorris doesn't have the problem of getting beat deep. But he doesn't position himself properly at times in his back peddle, and it leaves a huge gap on out routes because he has to round off his movement so much. He will get better with technique, because he has the hips to be able to cover that more tightly. They just need the experience to anticipate the route and to have the technique down to make the cut.

But yes, The Tulane, UCF, and CIncy QBs are all going to hit that deep ball over Rogers (maybe even Tune at Houston). So it needs to get cleaned up over the next couple of weeks. But if I were to guess, Leavitt will play more 2 deep looks against those teams to provide help instead of sticking the corner on an island.
