Navy has been the house of horrors and broken dreams for the Mustangs. We have not defeated Navy in their house..... in TWENTY THREE years. What say you Mustang fans?

Until last week, Navy had a hard time scoring on offense so I figured a 28-17 score would be enough. But after their performance against UCF, SMU may need to maintain its 40+ pace. 42-28?

Was Ramon Flanigan the QB in that one?

Just looked it up - Chris Sanders or Josh McCown in that one. Of course - game was vacated due to Steve Malin - so "officially" it may have been Ramon?

We hammered them last year. No reason to believe it won't happen again this year.

This is where the streak ends for navy. I think we will go in there. UCF was a shock but as noted in a previous thread UCF made alot of mistakes and aren't good this year with Gabriel out. Houston was a close game but I think Houston isn't strong offensively and is in a down year as well.

We absolutely shouldn't sleep on this but if we have Bentley back then my prediction:

45-28 Ponies (cover the spread again)

We play decent offense and shut off their FB dive. Navy QB goes for 125 yards and two TDs.

34-24 Equines.

With extra D-line depth we protect our knees and limit their options.

Hilltoppers 49
Middies 13

So only two career-ending chop blocks on Saturday?

They use cut blocks, not chop blocks. Chop blocks are illegal and involve two blockers with one high and one low. Cut blocks are low blocks at the knees and are very dangerous to the DL but so far not illegal.

The Navy offense is getting much more efficient. They are limiting each team to 5 or 6 possessions per half. You have to be effective when you have the ball. They gave up 49 in the opener because they weren't right yet, but since then they have held most teams in the 20s. UCF had the high mark at 30 and lost. Can't turn the ball over.

Our depth defensively is going to be absolutely critical. I would not be surprised to see us run Stang Ends on both sides, effectively creating a 5 man front, putting Massey on the slot and have a single safety back.

SMU 34 - Navy 20. I really like our run defense in the red zone, we hold them to two short field goals. I think Richard Moore and Deleno are huge differences in this game, and each have multiple TFL.

It's impossible to explain that chop blocks are illegal and cut blocks are not. Both can end a season or a career.

There has long been talk of outlawing cut blocks but nothing has yet been done.
