Welcome NTSU52 to the AAC. We are happy for the Mean Green, but forgive us if our situation appears to be weakened with the loss of three strong programs, who are replaced with future potential. As you can imagine, our goal remains to be P5 and not permanently locked out.

Best of luck, as this will raise North Texas’ profile, improve recruiting prospects and fund athletics at a higher level.

To be clear, I am in no way happy for the Mean(?) Green.

Hooray for NTCC joining the conference which makes this the perfect reason to fire Rick Hart.

Have to love the UNT President co-signing the letter from CUSA Commish asking the AAC to consider merging G5 conferences into more regional groups...and then bolting as soon as the opportunity came. We are all prostitutes in the current landscape of college athletics. The way things are, it remains to be seen if UNT and SMU will ever be conference mates. Reminds me of TCU running away from us in the WAC, then CUSA and then the Big East. Just as UNT hopes to someday be a conference mate of SMU, we hope to rejoin former SWC mates TCU, Baylor, Texas Tech & Houston

hard to understand why aresco added a garbage community school like the one in denton. guess even our worst teams will need a doormat for a win.

I'm 100% onboard for firing Hart for that invite.

Was SMU/Hart on the committee looking into this? I realize all schools had to vote, but more blame goes to those on the committee, I think. (And even if SMU wasn't on the committee--well, there should be blame for not getting in there.)

Yup. All 4 schools were considered possible schools to leave 3 elsewhere and navy to go independent.

With respect to the other SMU fans, UnT is not a MWC candidate alone nor was UTEP nor TXST.

"The AAC expansion committee included a prominent crew of athletic directors from the conference – USF’s Mike Kelly, Memphis’ Laird Veatch, SMU’s Rick Hart and Navy’s Chet Gladchuk."

The only thing I like about there new teams is getting back together with Rice, and even that is only for history/tradition reasons

NTSU pays their one win coach more than we pay our seven win coach.
