https://www.dmagazine.com/sports/2021/1 ... e/?ref=mpwSays they went after "the best athletes" by inviting U of H, UCF and Cincy. Says Houston can be "as good as they want to be" whatever that means among other things.

Why is D magazine interested in the Big 12 since there isn't a big TX school in the Big 12? (absent UT, A$M, OU and Arkyland). TTU? UH? Baylor? TCU?

I agree. Bowlsby admires SMU, but we didn’t meet the business profile of the three AAC members they did take.

UT, A&M, CU, Nebraska, Mizzou and OU are unimpressed with Bowlsby and the rest of the Big 12.

I think Bowlsby was tipping his hat to the next 4 to come assuming everything holds.

Reading between the lines- don't expect SMU to be invited in the next expansion, and cougar high was added due to pressure (payola) from Fertitta. He says little positive about cougar high in comparison to cincy etc.
I expect the next litte8 expansion will include Memphis because Fred Smith will step up with big dollars to get them in (like Fertitta). Our $$supporters do little to push for us in any future expansion and so we will be relegated to an over hyped D2 program.

Bottom line is that the Big XII will become a conference like the AAC, a conference with no "king pins" that dominate the conversation. I think Bowlsby is right that among the 12 schools anyone could step in any given year to win championships. Maybe the SEC is hoping that OU and Texas can bring more competition to that conference or at least to the group of "haves" that have dominated the "have nots" for years

I'm so glad I don't pay for that garbage toilet paper of publication. That game should always be a win and win they enter; we desperately need to make sure that the OOC is as tough as possible.
I'll say and keep saying it. If you call this a rivalry then Texas and Kansas have a rivalry. We have a higher win % against UnT than UT does with Kansas.

We have already beaten TCU. I wonder if Bowlsby would be impressed if we beat Houston, UCF, and Cincinnati as well?

I think he'd be more impressed if you consistently put 30,000 people in your stands

If that were the case, ACC and PAC12 would be interested too.

Looks like the SMU matchup outdrew The University of Texas in Amon Carter and will end up being your attendance high mark of the year.
If only you all would come over to our house to return the favor.
