Commit to the grit: Inside Cincinnati football’s climb from rock bottom to College Football Playoff history"It marks the first time a Group of 5 program has crashed the Playoff since the format began in 2014, a paradigm-altering accomplishment within the sport that also punctuates an unfathomable five-year transformation for the Bearcats under Fickell."
Note the mention of beating a big-time program

Have to schedule the big boys to have an opportunity to earn respect and realistically you have to play those games on the road. I have no doubt a one loss Notre Dame would have leap frogged Cincinnati if the Bearcats had not won in South Bend

Young man sitting behind me at the Cincy game said that things were so bad, he didn’t attend a football game until midway his junior year...first game he saw was the ‘06 WVA game, late in an 8-5 season, ‘06. Brian Kelly, who stayed 3 years (you dont think they were PO’d), made them relevant. Butch Jones stayed 3. Tubby was only there 4. Somehow, they rose above it.

That team that beat us in Cinci was the best I’ve seen against the Mustangs in many years. Rooting for them to win it all.
