enjoyed the interview. I think he will do well here and I am feeling better about his hire than at the beginning.

So as we listened to Chad and then Sonny talk about how great it was to be in Dallas and having the opportunity to be the HC at SMU and how much they loved Dallas, do we believe Rhett is more sincere than the others? If he's successful and maybe someday has an opportunity to get a P5 job and maybe even to coach his alma mater, at least he is infusing some youth and putting together a staff with a lot of Texas connections and guys who want to be here.

I just hope our guys show well in Boston and it sounds like the staff that remains in place for the bowl is stepping up and doing the right thing for the team.

I think Rhett wants to be here more based on the fact that he spent two year here and knows exactly what the challenges may be at the job before taking it. Him and his wife seemed to have been genuinely excited about the chance to come back to SMU. But, I really believed Sonny was a lifelong SMU fan and that it was always his dream job.

I think Sonny would have stayed if we had been invited into the Big 12. However, I put some of the blame of our being passed over on him. He is a great guy, a gentleman and a good recruiter, I just don't think he is a good head coach.

Sonny has also been known to have conflicts on occasion with ADs. That may have been an issue this time. Just saying... We will see how that works out for Rhett as time goes by.

I'm sure that at some point, when Rhett is successful, he will move on to another job.

However, it won't be to a rival. And he didn't show up talking about how he was a lifelong SMU fan, or that his dad told him on his deathbed to stay at SMU for 30 years. And it probably won't be a public mess.

Sonny did this to himself by setting long term expectations, moving to a disaster, letting stuff leak in public, and using the SMU boosters to negotiate with our rival. F him.

Pfft. Look he's not the devil, but no great-guy-gentleman would leave a team the way he just did in favor of that school's oldest and closest rival. There's no precedent for that.

I don't think Rhett will stay long term at SMU. As long as he elevates us further, I will support him while he is our coach and when he leaves as long as he leaves with class and not to our main rival. I think he is sincere in saying that he likes it here. I appreciate that he isn't glorifying SMU only to spit on it later. He is the right man for the job at this time.

I think we'll soon see we dumped a coach who had maxed out his potential and replaced him with an upgrade. I'm pretty sure this will be a Chad part 2 with tcu circling the drain like arky did.

If all goes well, Woods & Symons are odds on favorites to be our next HC.

I don’t have a problem with that, I’m more concerned about us successfully navigating NIL.
