Glad a decision has been made. However, if PS doesn't get significant playing time I would not be surprised to see him in the transfer market.

I too worry about seeing him in the portal. But after this year you'd think the keys are his, with 3 years of eligibility left.

Even 5 star recruits don't start for a year or two sometimes.

Really hope he can wait and we see hime shine.

I have to imagine Mordecai has a short leash to where as soon as he has a bad 1st half, Preston will get put in. I really hope we don't lost Preston over this.

Oh, I don’t think we will. He’s right in line to start next year, if not this year.

Looks like Camar suited up today, by the way.

Doesnt Mordecai still have another year of eligibility after this year?

He does have a year left after this season....2020 exemption. I would be shocked if he comes back though....he gone!

Mordecai does have one more year after this because of the COVID exemption year. I could see him sticking around if SMU has a national caliber team next year. It sucks that Preston is stuck behind him, but that is life.

Other than Stone, who wouldn't want Mordecai to come back next year? A 6th year senior with a ton of experience is hard to come by and is a great asset.

yes, a 6th year senior would be a great asset but would it be worth it if we were to lose PS to the portal because of not getting to start? After PS I don't think we have any QBs ready to take over.

I think we see how the season goes and if that elevates Tanner to a possible job in the NFL then he can explore that option. Ultimately, Tanner needs to do what's best for Tanner. It speaks volumes of Preston that he hasn't immediately jumped to the portal but by all accounts that's not his personality.

That being said, if Tanner stays next year, have zero issues with Preston taking care of his best interests and moving onward if that's his decision.

But guess what? I dont know if you, me or anybody will be walking the earth a year from now so i dont spend too much time speculating on future scenarios. They tend to work themselves out while we watched.

Tanner isn’t an NFL QB. He may get picked up as an undrafted FA, but I see him coming back next year. That sucks! Unless he’s done some serious development this off-season his upside is limited which

I looked up his bio. In his FIRST season at SMU, he:

• Set the school record with 39 touchdown passes
• Threw for 3,628 yards (12th NCAA, 1st AAC, 3rd SMU)
• Completed 308 passes -- second at SMU
• Posted eight 300-yard games
• Had five games with 4+ passing TDs
• Had six games with 4+ total TDs
• Threw seven passing TDs in the season opener against ACU set the SMU single-game record
• Had a 75% or better completion rate in three games (ACU, at LaTech, Navy)
• Ranked in the top 10 nationally and led the conference in points responsible for (248, 6th NCAA), points responsible for per game (20.7, 6th NCAA), completions per game (25.67, 8th NCAA), passing yards per game (302.3, 10th NCAA) and total offense (319.2, 10th NCAA)…
• His 41 TDs responsible is a single-season record for SMU
• Finished with 3,830 yards of total offense (4th SMU)

... and it sucks that he's coming back?

I get that a lot of people like Stone -- I'm in that group, too. But it's impossible to find full with Mordecai.

Speaking of which, when is the last time the Mustangs had 2 quarterbacks this talented?
