Bowl selection

Question for all of you who are smarter than me. With bowl games, do teams get slotted according to what place they finished? Does SMU get the 4th bowl on the list?

Not anymore. It’s like fraternity rush where they match school’s wants with bowl wants. Some conferences will not be able to fill all their slots so a better bowl may open up for G5 teams.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
