Dave Campbell Texas Football hit the newsstands.

I haven't bought it in years but always browse through the conference predictions and the SMU section at the grocery store.

It is as thick as ever, but they cut corners on the printing, the pages look more like a newspaper than a magazine.

Good SMU writeup and has us going 10-2 with losses to OU and TCU but predicts we will win the rest.

Strangely enough, SMU was picked third in the conference behind Tulane and UTSA. Since UTSA and Tulane play each other and we play neither, if we were undefeated in conference play, we would be guaranteed a spot in the final over the loser of their game and would finish at least second.

Too early to weigh in on season predictions? It does appear the AAC set SMU up for a successful conference season with our not playing either UTSA or Tulane in the regular season. It's odd that the AAC chose not to form divisions, which presumably would have been regionalized and probably would have resulted in our being aligned with both Tulane and UTSA. We will have really tough road games at ECU and Memphis and I would be pleased if that 10-2 can be accomplished. Until our guys prove otherwise, my guess is this year's team will go 8-4 or possibly 9-3 if our young QBs develop quickly and can stay healthy. My guess is that going 7-1 in conference play will earn a spot in the AAC Championship game against either UTSA or Tulane.
