Poll - SMU should . . . .

There has been a lot of posts on what the Ponies should do, and we have not had a poll in quite a while, so here goes. I know I could have given other options but I wanted to keep it simple. I am leaning to option 1. Canzano is reporting in his mailbag that the PAC-4 have hired Oliver Luck to give them a game plan. He is also reporting SMU has been using Oliver Luck. If you do vote other, please give an explanation.

Create or join a class action lawsuit against ESPN for creating monopolistic t bargaining conditions in an NCAA amateur sport.

Poor Kliavkoff. He's going get 10million+ over the next 3 years to do nothing. Well...he's basically been doing nothing the whole time it seems.

We need to hope Stanford doesn't get into a P4 conference then just go with them. I expect some sort of resolution before the season starts.

In the PAC-4 scenario what Stanford wants — Stanford gets.

(What do I know?!?). However it appears to me that if this scenario works, the key piece was the Old CUSA plan — get the service academies involved. Let them have huge leeway on income from media games. Think of the attendance factor for the SF, SD, Dallas area alone. The Academies solve academics.

So it looks like this:

Stanford
Cal
OSU
WSU
SDSU
CSU

SMU
AF
Navy
Army
Tulane

Then ur pick USF, Memphis, Rice.

BBall substitutes for Navy and Army - Gonzaga & Wichita State (or any other BBall school)

Two American Conference divisions, east and west. The Pac-4 plus the Texas and Oklahoma teams in the west. Everyone else in the east. Round robin in each division. Championship game between the winners of each division. ESPN linear coverage for everyone. Apple comes in and gets their foot in the door by broadcasting the Pac-4 in the daytime on Apple TV.

Could something like this happen? Aresco thinks it can. And with his connections, vision, and track record who would bet against him?

I’m all in on this!

I liked this lineup.

Stanford/Cal have a deep aversion to playing Boise. Unlikey this scenario
is realized though stranger things have happened.

OK. Do Mandel’s scenario but swap Colo St for Boise.

That's a good swap.

Read somewhere that Stanford and Cal also want nothing to do with San Jose State and Fresno State for academic reasons.

There is no reason to involve any MWC team at all. They bring nothing but the Mountain Time Zone which we don’t need. They only complicate the issue. What needs to happen ASAP is to get the PAC-4 into a conference with national linear media rights beyond 2024. Big markets and good competition would be a plus too.

Sorry but my thoughts don’t jive with the party line on here.

Stanford and Cal in a conference/division with North Texas State?

AAC-PAC Merger P5?

WEST [9]

STANFORD
CAL
RICE
SMU
TULANE
OR-ST
WA-ST
SDSU
NAVY

EAST [9]

UNT
UTSA
TULSA
MEMPHIS
USF
FAU
TEMPLE
ECU
UAB

If the the AAC & PAC merge, can they hold onto power status and does this allow Stanford to play Eastern teams less often reducing travel and negative association?
