Conference season starts for the Mustangs, after devastating loss at tcu. SMU need to get their head right with ball, the 49ers are more competitive than what most people realize.

Charlotte 24- South Carolina State 3
Charlotte 25- Georgia State 41...Georgia State is 4-0
Charlotte 20- @ Maryland 38...Maryland is 4-0
Charlotte 7- @ #22 Florida 22

Maryland also pummeled, Michigan State in East Lansing. It appears that Charlotte has a good defense. As I said, we have to put on our big boy pants for this one. With that I would expect them to try and force Preston to pass and take away the run as that is what TCU and OK did to us. They kept Tagalova in check. So, given that, I would say this game could be a nail-biter. I don't see their offense as being able to sustain drives and hopefully our defense gives us a short field a few times. That said, they don't seem to turn the ball over very often either. So, we're going to have to sustain some drives and hit some long passes. If we do, it will be a rout, like 35-7. If we can't do it, it will be more like 14-7 us.

The 49ers have been feisty under their new head coach. Charlotte getting 22.5 points seems like a good bet but I think SMU wins comfortably 31-17
