ACC revenue distribution

So SMU 2024 share could come in anywhere 19-25M depending on the negotiated CFP payout (more than 1M but less than 5M) and the ACCN share. My best guess is SMU will get 15-18M ACCN share plus CFP 3M-4M share for $18-22M share in 2024. Welcome to the ACC!

All of the jealousy over the ACC invite has been amusing to me. We’ve been playing for peanuts since the SWC demise, and we obviously won’t be playing for “free”. Did we incentivize the ACC by not taking a share of the media payout for 9 years? YES, and any G5 would do the same. According to those projections we will almost double what we get now in the American, so that ain’t free.

Like 7 million is what I remember from years past for AAC moneys. This is more than double money and more to come after a few years. Let's just win the league and see what happens.

Go Mustangs and thank you BMD's.

I think I read on the csnbbs site for ACC that we got about 8.5 total from AAC and expect 15 - 20 mil from the ACC. Anyone have accurate figures?

The ACC’s model centers around the expanded 12-team College Football Playoff. Teams could earn $4 million for an appearance, another $4 million for reaching the second round, $6 million for the semifinals and $6 million for the title game — a total of $20 million.

Teams also can earn success money by finishing in the top 25 of the CFP rankings and reaching a bowl game. And football money is positioned to climb.

“That grows as we go forward because those other numbers grow, and the CFP dollars grow,” ACC Commissioner Jim Phillips said.

The plan also includes existing revenue distributions for success in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament, with “units” earned for wins all the way to the Final Four. The NCAA is moving closer to implementing units for the women’s tournament, which would eventually be included in ACC’s success initiative.

Those are all in addition to league payouts tied to the league’s TV deal with ESPN.

Nice breakdown. Yes, we gave up TV revenue for 9 years. Nothing else. Yes, that TV number is a big number. But you do what you gotta do. And then we deal with reality...the other revenue we are receiving dwarfs our AAC revenue.

"We're not upset about losing money we never had anyway."

Not that it is a big impact on the discussion but I believe SMU only gets a 50% share of the CFP $$ for the first year or two.
