Perhaps it’s early, but to pollinate discussion for our inaugural ACC season, how optimistic are you?

I’ll go first: 9-4, including the bowl.

Agree, 9-4 with a Sun Bowl victory.

10-2 shocks the world. SMU returns to status as a perennial top 20 program like they were in the early to mid-1980s. Go Mustangs!!! We are back!!

8-4 regular. 6-2 conference. we win bowl game...9-4

8-5 with a bowl game win, and finally getting revenge against BYU. Also a little retribution against BC.

I am worried about the depth at tackle and cb. While this is a very different team with the portal than in the past, the BC game showed us we are weak on the lines. DL should be stout. Will go with 7-6 for now. 8-5 would be very impressive.

7-6 would mean we beat 5 P4 teams, which as an SMU fan blows my mind given where we were not long ago.

I will go with a 7-5 regular season and either a 7-6 or 8-5 finish depending on our bowl opponent

I agree with CP, 7-5…winning some we probably shouldn’t and losing some the same way. It will be considered a solid first year leading to a MUCH better bowl game.

I wouldn't count on that. Unless SMU can finish in the top 3-4 of the conference standings, several of the bowl tie-ins will look very familiar. https://theacc.com/news/2024/6/6/footba ... edule.aspx

For something different, maybe the Sun Bowl vs. a Big 12 (formerly Pac-12) school?

I'm skeptical to say we're going to have such a successful season, with the so few amount of wins over the big four conferences outside of TCU in the last couple of decades.

Could see 9-3, could also see 7-5. Anything less than 6 wins, would pretty be disappointing overall tbh.

SMU is sure getting hyped up everywhere I look. Hoping the players aren't drinking the kool aid and getting cocky

I think the season hinges on BYU and TCU. Should be 2-0 going into that stretch, and if we win them both and are undefeated facing Florida State then it just might be a shock the world season. Lose one or God forbid both, and it’s going to be a rough year.
