Three Mustangs Land On Pick Six Previews Preseason All-ACC Teams
UNIONVILLE, Pa. (SMU) – SMU quarterback Preston Stone and offensive lineman Justin Osborne have been named to the Pick Six Previews Preseason All-ACC Second Team, while offensive lineman Savion Byrd was tabbed to the Preseason ACC All-Transfer Team, the publication announced Wednesday.
Pick Six Previews is an annual season preview publication launched in 2012 by Heisman Voter Brett Ciancia. The publication gives a deep dive into all 70 power-conference programs in addition to naming all-conference teams.
Stone is coming off a breakout campaign last year when he helped lead the Mustangs to their first conference championship since 1984. The Dallas native showcased his abilities all last season, throwing for career highs in yards (3,197) and touchdowns (28). The redshirt junior's 2023 passing efficiency of 161.3 is the ninth best among returning quarterbacks.
His placement on the Pix Six Previews All-ACC teams comes after he was named to the Maxwell Award watch list last week in addition to also being tabbed to Dave Campbell's Preseason All-Texas Team earlier this summer.
Osborne enters the 2024 campaign as a staple along the line for the last four years with the Mustangs. The Flower Mound native has started 42 games as a Mustang and is a two-time all-conference selection. So far this preseason, he has been named to the Phil Steele (First Team) and Athlon Sports (Second Team) Preseason All-ACC squads along Dave Campbell's Preseason All-Texas Team in addition to being placed on the Osborne Trophy watch list.
A transfer from Oklahoma, Byrd comes to the Hilltop after appearing in nine games with four starts at left guard for the Sooners in 2023. He started the first three games of the season, before an injury limited his action for the majority of the remainder of the year.
Pick Six Previews is an annual season preview publication, launched in 2012 by Heisman Voter Brett Ciancia. Over the past ten seasons, Pick Six Previews finished with the #1 "Most Accurate College Football Predictions" nationally via Stassen.
The annual book is a one-man operation, and the end result of 1,000+ hours of film study, calls with coaches/coordinators, local radio/podcasts, spring games, advanced stats, etc.
After the 2020 edition, Ciancia was selected to join the FWAA All-America Team selection committee.
