I thought this was hilarious on how one of the posters described the ACC members on the ACCbbs board. LOL! Think it says it pretty-well:

https://csnbbs.com/thread-990485-page-9.html

FSU is the ring leader rebel child of the family.
Clemson is the silent enabler of the rebel FSU.
Louisville is the black sheep (bastard child) of the family trying to be accepted by the blue bloods of the
family.
UNC, Virginia, and Duke are the chief princes of the
blue bloods and think they rule the family.
WF, BC, and Syracuse are the brothers who live beyond
their means and depend on others to maintain their
luxurious lifestyle.
Georgia Tech is the boring nerdy brother who tries to
stay out of the family squabbles.
Stanford, Cal, and SMU are foster children...taken in
out of goodwill.
NC State, Virginia Tech, and Miami are the forgotten
middle children.
Notre Dame is the big brother cousin who can make it
on his own and doesn't need the family for anything.
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!

For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

From The Athletic:

FSU, Clemson stood pat at ACC’s 2025 withdrawal deadline: What’s next in realignment battle
By Chris Vannini

The ACC constitution contains an Aug. 15 deadline for members to inform the league of their departure for the following year. That deadline has now come and gone for Clemson and Florida State, which are suing the league to get out of its grant of rights, a move that would allow them to more actively pursue membership in another conference.

FSU and the ACC are also in the middle of a court-ordered mediation that will last into next week. No resolution is expected to come out of that mediation, and sources on all sides did not expect Clemson and FSU to make any announcements on their future before Aug. 15, leaving all parties to continue their courtroom battles as the 2024 football season approaches.

So what does it all mean and where do things stand?

The ACC withdrawal deadline
The ACC requires a notice of withdrawal by Aug. 15 in order for a member to leave on June 30 of the following year. When Florida State sued the ACC in December 2023, it asked a Florida court to deem that FSU issued its notice of withdrawal to the league effective Aug. 14, 2023, if the court ruled that the grant of rights was illegal or unenforceable. The legal fight has dragged on, but FSU has technically not put in its withdrawal yet.

Clemson’s legal challenge, filed in March, argues the slightly different stance that the grant of rights should not apply once a school leaves the conference. Clemson said in March that it had not given an official notice of withdrawal.

“We will fight to protect the ACC and our members for as long as it takes,” ACC commissioner Jim Phillips said at ACC media days in July. “We are confident in this league and that it will remain a premier conference in college athletics for the long-term future. These disputes continue to be extremely damaging, disruptive and incredibly harmful to the league, as well as overshadowing our student-athletes and the incredible successes taking place on the field and within the conference.”

In think those all make sense.

But I would make changes:

FSU is the child with the sense of Entitlement. He is not a true rebel in anything except rebelling on the demand to given more stuff.

Clemson is the child who is not a rebel in any meaningful sense, as he always keeps his nise clean, But he intends to get as much as pice as the Sense of Entitlement child can get.

Louisville is the former open admission state school child that has spent the past 40 years trying to become a somewhat prestigious research university. It is like the very distant cousin born to poor parents and much poorer grandparents working t prove it belongs.

WF is the child who alway asserts it was always in the family, nd that BC and Syracuse are thus quite different from it -plus their home stomping ground sucks in every way.

NCSU is the brother so eaten up envy and covetousness, he handcuffs himself at almost every turn. Miami is the brother so besotted with Bright Lights and Big City attitude that he may again never sniff his once grand glory.

VT, who used to be known as VPI, is still trying to figure out how to be consistently what he is certain he can be. Deep down he knows that being nick named Virginia Poly is sharper than being called VT.

GT knew by 1967 that its leaving the SEC in 1964 would doom it unless it either got back into the SEC or else got to join the ACC. IT took another decade to get the latter invite, and several more years than that to play its first ACC football game. But the old GT arrogance, that drive so many SEC ADs and coaches into furies, came back as soon as Cremins got GT into the Final Four and Bobby Ross won a National Championship in football. Then GT became a standard ally of Maryland causing trouble. Until GT sports again came crashing down, forcing it to realize it has precious few fans.

Notre Dame? The rich family member who loves to make certain you know it is too rich to care about the family at all.
