Jennings Tabbed to O’Brien Award Great 8 For Week 8
FORT WORTH, Texas (Davey O'Brien Foundation/SMU) – SMU quarterback Kevin Jennings has been named to the Davey O'Brien Award Great 8 list for week eight, the Davey O'Brien Foundation announced on Monday.
With the weekly accolade, the Oak Cliff native also is added to the O'Brien award midseason watch list. The midseason watch list is compiled of players named to the weekly list at some point during the season, and the award names the top quarterback in the nation.
Jennings was 17-27 with 322 yards and three touchdowns during the Mustangs' 40-10 victory on the road against Stanford. For the season, he has accumulated 1,336 yards and nine touchdowns with just two interceptions.
He opened the game fast against the Cardinal, connecting with Moochie Dixon on the first play from scrimmage for an 87-yard touchdown. The sophomore would later find Key'Shawn Smith and RJ Maryland for touchdowns to give SMU a 21-0 lead in the first quarter.
Nationally, Jennings ranks 12th in the nation in yards per pass attempt with 9.09 and 15th in passing yards per completion with 13.77. Both of these numbers rank third in the ACC.
The Oak Cliff native’s 86.2 offensive grade by Pro Football Focus (PFF) was the highest for any ACC quarterback in week 8.
SMU puts its unbeaten conference record to the test again this week when it travels to Duke to face the Blue Devils on Saturday at 7 p.m. CT on the ACC Network.
