Mustangs Debut At No. 13 In CFP Selection Committee Rankings

IRVING, Texas (SMU) – SMU Football made its season debut in the inaugural College Football Playoff Selection Committee rankings of 2024 on Tuesday. The Mustangs came in at No. 13 in the 25-team ranking format.

The 13th ranking is the highest the team has ever had in program history, and marks the fourth time the Mustangs have earned a ranking in the poll. SMU was previously 24th in last season's selection day poll.

I am afraid that if we win out but lose to Miami in the ACC championship game, we will be left out.

I am so proud of our coaches and players. #13, just wow!

Only thing the team should be focused on is beating Boston College.

However, we can be very proud of them and the coaches for the brilliant start to our inaugural year in the ACC.

The chair of the committee was specifically asked that question and while not wanting to go on the record, he did say that if the game were competitive (not specifically us, but any of the teams that lost in the conf champ games, as that would give them one more game than the others) that would make a difference. Well see if that is true or not.
