Championship Poll

This poll and post is in memory of Waldorf. For those of you have been following PonyFans before the millennium - I was Waldorf’s running buddy. He tragically died of caner 11 years ago and in my humble opinion was the funniest poster on this website (research his posts [he was also Captain E.J. Smith of the Goodship Mustang] and you will crack up)

So with said, Pony Nation, Clemson has an outside shot Saturday. If Miami loses, they are in so . . .

I'd rather play Clemson. They don't scare me the way Miami's offense does.

Also let me say I think we would handle Clemson, so I think Clemson would be better served to beat SC and also not make the ACCCG. That is their best shot at the CFP.

I'd like to play Clemson because both my kids went to school there and it would be fun to attend the game with my daughter's family who lives in the Charlotte area, too. Agree Clemson needs to beat SC no matter what happens in the Miami vs Syracuse game but I'd like to see Syracuse take Miami down.

Would be nice to see some ACC teams upset SEC teams in their rivalry games...Georgia Tech vs Georgia Louisville vs Kentucky or how about a real shocker with FSU beating Florida. Anyone remember SMU losing to a one win TCU team coached by Pat Sullivan when a win would have gotten us into a bowl game? FSU could salvage what has been a miserable season by beating the Gators

I would rather not play Clemson because it would be in essence a home game for them. Miami and us would be about the same as far as fans are concerned. Got my tickets and hotel, I'll be there cheering them on no matter who they play.

Question - Why is the Championship game being played in this town. The logistics are super bad. One direct fright from SWA and NONE from American and others.
At 64 years old and 260 pounds, 6 to 7 hours in a plane is not going to happen.
Bad planning for the league.

Because Charlotte is still geographically pretty much the center of gravity for the ACC. 13 of the 17 teams are east of the Appalachians, and the city is pretty much the middle of the east coast.

Would rather play Miami on the field and Clemson for better fan experience. Several friends went to Clemson...zero to Miami.

SMU and Miami fans have literally nothing in common

So, they just drive in and to the city. OK for them. Maybe something gets added.
Thank you for the explanation.

It's pretty much a 6 hour drive from DC and 5 hours from Atlanta. Also, the 6-7 hour Southwest flight probably means a transfer along the lines, or a few stopovers. So, you can get up and stretch.

Yes, I remember you guys. We should have a toast in his honor in Charlotte.

AA has multiple nonstops between DFW & CLT, but prices are now $600+ (inside of two weeks). Myself and others gambled a few weeks ago that SMU would make it and locked in tickets early.

Probably Miami. What a thrill for them, as one of our farm teams, to get to play the big leaguers!

The fans may not have anything in common, but the players? I'm pretty sure a few of ours would like to stick it to Miami... but that could be a double-edged sword, so I'm on the fence. Do we have any Clem transfers?

SMU and Miami are both private universities in affluent suburbs of large southern cities. The student bodies are almost identical. SMU lacks a medical school and doesn't have palm trees but they are very similar. Miami has collected some t-shirt fans, of which we a sorely lacking. That's the biggest difference.

Charlotte resident, here. Charlotte is ACC HQ, central geographic location and 10+ nonstops daily from DFW.
