... who could ask Lashlee about McFall playing in the Cal game. From what I can tell, he can play one more game this season and still preserve his redshirt, and postseason games (including conf championship games) do not count against your redshirt, so he could play in those too.
But sadly, we don't know anyone with regular access to Coach Lashlee who is brave enough to ask him.

I would if I were at the weekly press conferences

. I've even tried to ask Billy to do it.
If he is able to play in the Cal game and not burn a redshirt, that would be awesome. He would have a huge impact.

I pinged Billy and they asked - McFall is ready to roll.

My guess is we got behind so quickly that we had to throw a lot.

True: McFall is fine and ready to go. Like all coaches, Lashlee has talked about protecting young players' redshirt years when a team has experienced talent ahead of those young players. He talked during the season about doing that this season, as he always does.
Highlander is right: falling behind clearly factored in, and if you're trying to orchestrate a comeback, it makes sense that when a running back is needed in a potential comeback, you lean on the guy who is climbing his way through the record book and was named first-team All-ACC.
That he didn't play was not a slight in any way against McFall, but rather a game in which circumstances dictated that it made sense to go with proven veterans. When they play Penn State, in front of more than 100,000 people, it's safe to assume you're going to see a lot of Smith and Johnson there, too.

My favorite sentence: "Highlander is right." I don't hear it often enough.
