Where does Ford put an 8,000 seat expansion?

Keeping in mind that UP height restrictions would be waived. North end zone?

When Ford was built I remember thinking they could add a "mini upper deck" on the east side without going higher than the west side boxes and club seals but probably cost prohibitive. I attended the SMU vs Ole Miss game in the 90's when Ole Miss was building another upper deck and while it could be done we would also have additional parking challenges so another parking deck would probably be needed somewhere close to Ford.

Not really, we went to the Bama - OU game and there is no world where Bama deserved to be in the playoffs over SMU.

Don’t need it. Keep winning and make it a tough ticket to get.

I agree. Ford and Moody are perfect for us right now. Moody has not been packed yet this season and while we've announced 34k crowds at Ford, there have been plenty of empty seats visible on the east side. Big games will be a tough ticket at both venues

Just talking to my Virginia golf buddy about the bball game and football stadium expansion came up. He says PLEASE don't increase the capacity because Virginia did that and ruined their environment because they don't fill the stadium. His suggestion: build more suites/boxes on the east side as that revenue is more likely to pay down the construction costs than 8,000 empty seats. Not unlike the decision SMU made with the End Zone complex. Probably the right way to go and if we ever play a game against a huge brand name opponent and need more seats there are other options in the Metroplex.

Standing room. Build a causeway above East seats. Cheap and easy. Then if we have a sellout game, we can sell SRO tickets for reduced price.

If WE are the "huge brand name" (#1) playing a Notre Dame (#2) I would hope we would play at Ford. I think it stinks that some of these "hot shot" schools give up a home stadium game for the likes of a pro $tadium We can get all of the exposure we need on campus.

I'd be ok with moving a big game like Notre Dame to the Cotton Bowl since we have so much history there. I would be strongly opposed to playing it in Jerryworld.

We were very close to facing that scenario this season. If we beat BYU we would have been in the top 4 going into the ACCCG. A close loss there and we slide to the 6-8 range. Can you imagine the howling of a Big 10/SEC school having to play in a stadium that holds less than 40K? Would SMU voluntarily move the game to the Cotton Bowl or would moving to a larger facility be a condition of receiving a bid?

This makes a whole lot of sense. I think maximizing revenue is more important to the athletic dept's future than pure capacity.

I don't ever want to play a home game at any place other than our home stadium. If it's "too small", so be it.
