This is the kind of "analysis" that I'd like our players to see so they can play with a chip on their shoulders. Kevin Jennings is probably the best example of a guy who wasn't deemed worthy of a scholarship offer by FBS programs and now suddenly is being talked about as a 2025 Heisman candidate? It's all about how a guy develops and ultimately how well they can play and how bad they want it when faced with adverse weather like they will have to deal with Saturday

How did our recruits compare to FSU? How did that game turn out?

I think it is important to point out that:
1) While Penn State is at 11, most outsiders would be surprised to see SMU at 25 in their first year in a power 4 conference.
2) Clemson is actually much higher in the rankings than Penn State is, and we did okay against them.
3) their best players are actually underrated. 11 DE was only a 4 star and he is elite. And the TE 44 was only a 3 star and he is elite.
4) Ohio State, Oregon, and USC are the only opponents Penn State played with a higher Total Team talent than SMU. They lost two of those and won a close one against USC. Right behind SMU: Wisconsin was 27, UCLA 29, and Washington 35, but none of those three teams have the talent on offense that SMU has.
Really the difference between 11 and 25 isn't huge. We have the roster talent to be competitive.
What they should do instead of recruiting ratings is PFF ratings.
QB: TIE Aller = Jennings RB: SMU Smith > Singleton > Allen TE: PS Warren > RJ > Hibner WR1: PS Wallace (6) > Junior WR2: SMU Smith > 5 WR3: SMU Moochie > Hudson > Clifford (2) > Fleming (3) C: SMU Clark > Dawkins LG: PS 71 Parr RG: PS 77 > Osborne LT: TIE Byrd = Shelton RT: SMU PJ > 68/72
LT Shelton is underrated and is probably better than Byrd right now. NB Tracy has really gotten better as the season went along and looks very good, I would give them the advantage there. At DT, 91 and 28 are both really underrated. 28 is their Elijah Chatman. At DE, I love Roberts, but 11 is super elite. He is the first round to Roberts' 3rd round. He wears 11 and looks like Micah.

Are these the same guys who predicted SMU to come in first in the ACC?
