SMU in 2026 draft -- call it now

After every NFL draft, some websites start putting out way-too-early predictions for next year's draft. So here's one for the Mustangs.

How many Mustangs will get drafted next year? And who will go first?

I'm skipping the newcomers, since we don't really know how they'll all fit in SMU systems.

First: RJ Maryland if he's fully healthy. If not fully healthy, then Isaiah Nwokobia.

Others drafted:
Jordan Hudson
Zion Nelson (before he got hurt, he was tagged as a future high draft pick)
PJ Williams if he declares

Others with a chance, probably as undrafted free agents:
Collin Rogers
Romello Brinson (should test great on Pro Day)
Matt Hibner
Addison Nichols (too early to tell, but he's huge and at the final spring practice, he was running at first team center, he played in the SEC ... so I'm guessing he has a chance)

I hesitate to say this, but...Jennings could be a candidate if he continues to progress this fall, and can sustain growth throughout the season.

NFL teams are always searching for QBs...unless your last name is Sanders

Sanders did not interview well. But I think he will prove himself in time.

If he declares for the draft (please don't!), Jennings definitely looks like a draft-worthy player

Don’t want to consider it, but I think with a great year, KJ is a high pick. Gotta shake off the rattle from Penn last year though.

If it’s even moderately a big game, the only thing Jennings can be counted on for is 4-6 turnovers. He [deleted] the bed every single big game last year (Duke, Clemson, Penn state)

He has a ton of work to do in that area before anyone even thinks about him being a pro prospect
