Recruiting Athletes

did anybody notice that the first OLM(Vallery from Iowa) drafted, as well as the Cowboys two offensive lineman picks in the 2nd and 3rd rounds, were all recruited in college as TEs-very instructive of the importance of recruiting athletes rather than just big fat lugs. Which brings us to Ryan Kennedy-are we wasting a potentially proto-typed sized offensive lineman just to get a little bit of security until Vincent Chase takes over at TE. Heck with the offense we run now are we committed to using Chase at TE or will he eventually become an OLM to utilize his greatest asset-blocking?

And everyone of those guys main asset (other than size, which is a given) was their footwork. Get a guy with quick feet and the frame to add size and you've got the prototype.

By the way, Texas is doing the same thing with the top recruit in the state two years ago, Tony Hills Jr. He is being moved from TE to tackle as he is 270 and only gettting bigger.

From what I hear, that is the plan: leave Kennedy at TE for one more year whole Vincent Chase gets ready, and then bump him inside. Kennedy's pretty huge for a TE, and apparently it's everything the training/conditioning staff can do to keep from adding even more weight. But if you watch him, he runs pretty well, and that could translate to having the footwork of a very mobile offensive lineman.
