Dr. Turner's Remarks at SMU Alumni Reception in Chicago

Attended a reception last Friday in Chicago where Dr. Turner spoke to Chicago alumni and friends. Enjoyable to see so many SMU alumni, who follow the progress on campus with all the new construction and expanded academic programs, such as Engineering and Pre-Med, which according to Turner drive up SAT scores for those enrolling, when there is greater emphasis on these undergraduate programs.
But his remarks on the Mustangs were probably of more interest to the crowd. His support for Bennett and Tubbs is quite high as is his confidence in their programs as you would expect.
The comment drawing the most reaction, after he characterized the team as predominantly made up of Freshman and Sophmores, was that on campus he could tell these players from the Junior and Seniors. The former were taller and out-weighed the upperclassman by 30 pounds.
For what is worth, the remote corners of the Mustang Nation enjoyed hearing him and his confidence in our future success.
