Ex-Highland Park QB transfers to SMU
UNIVERSITY PARK – Alexander Webb, a former Highland Park star, has transferred from Northwestern to SMU. Webb, a 6-0, 195-pound quarterback, said he will attend summer school at SMU.
Webb, a sophomore, played in five games for Northwestern last season. He completed 16 of 33 passes for 205 yards, with no touchdowns and one interception.
Webb, 21, said the spread offense the Mustangs will use this season was similar to the one he played in while in high school and at Northwestern. He will probably receive two years of eligibility but is looking for an extra year from the NCAA. In the first game of his freshman season, Webb suffered a lacerated liver against TCU and missed the rest of the year. Webb was given a medical hardship.
