I miss baseball

this time of year, I really miss having baseball at SMU. It's great that our country club sports all made their usual strong showings, but watching five schools from S.Carolina compete in the NCAA Tourney really makes me wish SMU could someday add baseball/softball programs.

When I make my 1st billion, I think I will help SMU buy enough property to build a baseball/softball complex on campus and increase the athletic budget to accomodate those programs. The question is: what would be the ideal location for the new complex? Might have to relocate some fraternities/sororities to make this dream happen.

Seriously, though...I assume there was no pressure from CUSA on SMU, Tulsa or UTEP to add baseball/softball programs as a condition of membership? I was only half joking about that billion dollar price tag. For SMU to add baseball and softball and have nice facilities on campus, the cost would have to be enormous.

Better get back to discussing those plans to upgrade Moody.

The University has bought up a lot of property (houses) on the east side of the campus...north of SMU Blvd (formerly University Blvd.) as well as the old Mrs. Baird's bakery...I, too, hope to see baseball back at SMU some day...let's all keep our finger crossed that that will happen eventually.
