I noticed that CD Moss has now been taken off the 2004 Roster, he was on the Roster earlier today.

TailWind, can you or somebody else provide us ANY information as to why these players left??

I sure hope this isn't true. Justin is a tremendously strong, promising player who figured to have a big (if not starting) role on this year's team. Here's hoping this is inaccurate information.

For what it's worth, I saw him working his ace off...... with the rest of the team 10 days ago.

I just looked at the 2004 roster, and noticed Hulsey Smith #74 is not listed. That's the best news I've heard all summer!

To borrow from our friend Corso, "Not so fast, my friends!" Like many PonyFans, I got a little anxious when I read this, so I made a few calls. From what I can gather, Justin was upset that he wasn't listed as a starter after spring ball. Good! I WANT people who don't want to be behind anyone, who believe that they can contribute to the team by playing. Justin is a talented and amazingly strong young man. I hope he funnels this feeling into working even harder in the weight room and in conditioning drills.

Justin, come out in two-a-days in August and prove you belong in the starting lineup. If you earn the spot, you will play. If you don't, work even harder until you get into the starting lineup.

Anthony Barnett is still listed on the roster, for what that's worth.

Very good point. If he wasn't upset, he'd be settling and accepting a secondary role. By all accounts, that's not Justin's nature. It's that fire and spirit that will make him a constant on the offensive line for years to come.

with regard to Sam's post-as many who have followed SMU athletics for years prepare yourself for some whinning something along the lines of "The Players all hate the head coach!!!!!!!". Wah! Wah! I've seen it will every single coach at this school from Fry to Smith to Meyer to Collins to Gregg(well maybe not Gregg) to Rossley to Cavan to Bennett. Who in the hell cares-I'd be more worried if Bennett was loved by his players after going 0-12. If they don't like it I suggest they head on down the road like McCown and rest of the quitters from the past. Players from 0-12 teams are generally not in high demand.

There are some players on this roster - Boren included - who would be in high demand. I have to believe that it was tough for the coaches to redshirt some of the players they did last year, considering how some of them were big enough or fast enough that they might well have contributed. Nobody can say whether those contributions would have resulted in wins, but there was some serious talent on the sideline, practicing and learning and growing. Hopefully we'll see the fruits of that patience this year.

I agree completely with Hoofprint - I don't want players who settle for being a backup. If Boren is upset about not starting, that speaks volumes about his belief in himself. I hope he shows up in August and plays so hard and so well that he gives the coaching staff no choice but to play him. (Of course, I would hope all the players would take that approach.)
