In the tightest preseason football coaches' poll ever in Conference USA, TCU received more first place-votes than any other team but was picked fourth overall. Louisville garnered 106 points to claim first. Memphis finished second with 101 points, followed by reigning champion Southern Miss (100) and TCU (99). Houston came in fifth with 70 points.

In other news, five players were named to the all-conference preseason team. Offensive linemen Anthony Alabi and Chase Johnson joined running back Robert Merrill and defensive backs Marvin Godbolt and Mark Walker.

Fourth? I thought they wanted to move to the MWC because they were above CUSA.

They weren't first last year either

TCU may think they are good becasue they got ranked, but they were not good enough to win the C-USA last year were they. Maybe 4th place is the right prediction for 2004.
