Tailgating Help Needed!

Looking forward to making the trip to the Hill Top on Sep 4 - we had a great time on the Boulevard two years ago. Hopefully you will be able to answer a few quick questions for me regarding the tailgating scene -

1. Is there a way to reserve a spot on the Boulevard prior to game day or is it first come, first served? If reservations can be made, how much does it cost and who do I call to do this?

2. If the Blvd is off limits to the riff-raff like myself and my posse, are there any other spots on campus that would be suitable for pre-game festivities? If so, when would you recommend we arrive to claim our spot?

3. Finally, Are there any restrictions on firing up a grill on campus? I don't recall seing any in 2002.

Thanks for any input you can provide.

Check this link and all your questions will be answered. The guy you want to talk to is Chris Walker in the SMU Sports Info Dept.

Chris Walker hasn't been in the sports information office in over a year - he was transferred to some fund-raising capacity. However, if you call the sports information office (214-768-2883), I'm sure they can direct you to whoever is the appropriate source to answer your questions.

Not sure if there are any "reserved" spots left, but you can always squeeze in there (the first game, at least will be crowded). And there are lots of people BBQ-ing on their grills, so I don't think there are restrictions .... just standards to make things as safe as possible, etc. Go through the sports info office to get to the right campus authority, and they'll give you the scoop.

They would make things a little more festive, but then you run the risk of even more folks staying on The Boulevard and not making it into the game. Personally, I think the campus cops should clear The Boulevard at kickoff, thereby encouraging more people to head in to the stadium.

Anyone can \"pitch a tent\"

I'm pretty sure that if you want to, you can pick a spot anywhere in the middle of the Boulevard and set up your stuff. You just can't park and be along the edges where people pay to be able to do that for the full season. Also, you can "rent" one of the large umbrella spots on the north end of the boulevard on a single game basis as long as there are some available.
