Some of that weight was because of the good folks at Snuffer's and a few breweries, but I also didn't spend quite as much time as I assume he will (or any time, to be honest). Considering how big his dad was, there doesn't seem to be any reason to assume he won't bulk up.

I think some people are being short sighted and assuming he will play right away and not take a red shirt year to grow and adjust. He is undersized right now for DT, but I am sure the new strength coach and probably his dad too (given he is a former strength coach) have a plan, if he is really moving to the interior. At least we aren't in the days of taking 200lb players and hoping they grow.

my question is that if his dad is a strength coach why is he not already at an adequate size?

Haha I mean you're body at that age can only do so much. Just bc his dad is a strength coach doesn't mean his body mass develops at 18 like they should a 25 year old. He'll fill in with time as do all humans.

I'm hoping Hollie gets serious. Perfect size if he can lean out a bit and put on some muscle. Legacy guy - hope he has the attitude to be great (I have no idea). I'd like to take 2 per class in that range - 6'3/6'5" 285 / 315 lb types who can lose some baby fat and bulk up after a year or 2 on campus. (some of it is not just "bulking up" but "remolding" - getting rid of baby fat and getting stronger/thicker in the weight room and proper nutrition. . . get the guy like Hollie who might be a good weight but a bit too hefty to reduce his bodyfat % but add about 20 pounds of muscle and he MIGHT put on another 5 pounds or so NET but looks completely different and in much better shape . . . that's what I'd prefer . . . or the guy who might have come from poverty and didn't get good quality protein and carbs and comes on campus a little underweight but puts on about 20 pounds in the first year without it being flabby weight because of good nutrition).

Our defense will be so thin in the middle. But, that's okay because although we might be too small in the middle we will definitely not be too fast on the edges. :-)

Just attack the middle of the field on us and you will break your school's offensive record books.

Sorry had to vent - I'm a defense guy and it's like sticking toothpicks in my eyeballs watching our defense play.
