http://story.scout.com/a.z?s=357&p=2&c=487856, this is a story from Stanford's site. Thankfully McCann is ours, he is really talented. He will make an excellent impact here for the next four years, he i s a gamebreaker, who will continue to help SMU head upward. He really knows what he wants in life too and talks very highly about SMU's business program. SMU is getting a great player and a great student in McCann. Can't wait to see him in the Ford Stadium next year.

"I took my visit to SMU, and I really liked the players and coaches. The whole environment was great, and the educational program was a great fit for me," McCann comments. "I really liked it but waited to take my visit the next week to Tulsa. There was no comparison at all, and I was able to commit the next week."

It's amazing that more recruits don't feel the same way as McCann. I am routinely astounded by the choices of kids who go to places like El Paso and Tulsa instead of coming to SMU. Hawaii & UNLV I can understand... but Tulsa?

With so few scholarships to offer this year, SMU is being really close to the vest on who is actually recieving the most interest from our coaching staff.
We may have offered dozens of really good players ...but have really focused on a select few of really good players. These players recognmize the beauty of SMU and will make their decisions in the next couple of weeks.

Now I think you are just trying to get under everyone's skin Stampede. To say that we are secretly compiling a good recruiting class is ridiculous. Are you saying that for some reason these "secret recruits" are just in cahoots with the coaching staff in not announcing their committments. What upside is it for these kids to do this? Are they all sleepers? I'm all for the positive outlook, but we need to be realistic as well.

No, I did not say that anyone is in cahoots and keeping any commits quiet. You are reading too much into what is being written.

What I am saying is that there are several players coming in for visits that are being recruited by other Div 1 schools that have not made final decisions. Some are "commited" to other schools but are visiting SMU. The coaches have done a good job of beating the path to the recruits doorsteps and it will pay off.
