Quit clouding the issue with logic.

Arguably this is the 17th straight year we have been outrecruited(badly) by TCU. At the best we are 1-16 over the last 17 years. WHOPPIE!
Again, very few care what you think.

Posted this Monday, but you keep saying that TCU is killing us in recruiting this year......
"Well per rivals it shows us at an Average of 2 stars and TCU at an average of 1.75 stars.
Granted not sure how it works and it is not completely up to date, shows us at 10 commits and TCU at 11, and it prolly doesn't show transfers... "

I don't think anyone on here is speculating that we have the worlds best recruiting class. But I think it is way overly dramatic to say than it is less than average. We have an average non-BCS recruiting class this year. I would give us a lower grade on targeting just because we didn't get a high profile JUCO QB to come in and we didn't get a name player to come in at LB, which were our two biggest and most immediate needs.
Overall though, I trust Bennett on talent judgement based on past results. So, while not incredible, this class is will be fine.

In the past 10 years, either TCU has outrecruited SMU or TCU has outcoached SMU. A little bit of both but TCU has gotten drastically better talent than SMU over the past 10 years. TCU does a great job of getting transfers and juco players that SMU simply cannot go after due to its admission requirements (i.e., refusing to accept transfer hours). SMU has lost out on its top juco qb prospects for this very reason. Meanwhile, in Fort Worth, TCU makes it easy for coaches to get players in school. The administration and the athletic department are working together as one unit while SMU has a two-headed Monster. How much of Bennett's contract extension was a result of the five win season or fear that Bennett may bolt due to being sick and tired of watching the admission board routinely denying recruits with interest in SMU? For those of you who even attempt to say SMU's level of recruits (as a whole) are equal to TCU's are crazy and stupid. Granted, there are a few players every year SMU gets that TCU would love to have but the classes as a whole are not even close. When SMU wants to get serious and start aggressively recruiting juco's and allow tranfer's in then maybe we can have a legitimate discussion.

The recruiting at the two schools is surprisingly close the last four or five yrs - I think even stallion would say we won at least one recruiting battle in there with a few near toss up yrs. - that is amazing considering they have had great on field success and we have not (yet).
The gap is narrrowing - and it also shows that SMU is the preferable school all things being equal - look out if we can piece together a wining record or bowl game.

the gap is not narrowing over the last 3 recruiting years. In fact, the gap is getting bigger as TCU has easily outrecruited us for 3 straight years not even including the 5-6 Division 1A BCS transfers TCU has gotten in the last few years. It hasn't been close in any of those years.

Will this class be large to enough to have a realistic national ranking?
Does it shape up as being in the 50's, 70's, 90's?

According to Rivals rankings, you are right.
According to the scoreboard, 21-10, you are mistaken.
Could the difference be coaching? It's gotta be hard to play for a "Smurf" wearing his pants under his armpits!

Just wanted to put an opinion out there with a little more research to it...
If you look on rivals at the average stars for this class, TCU is at 2.38. SMU is at 2.18.
If you look in detail and grade the individual players where a C is around a 5.2 ranking and a couple of CUSA level offers, a B is a solid BCS-level recruit, a D is a 5.0 rank and no other offers and an F is unheard of, TCU's class comes out to about a C+, and our class is between a C and a C-.
Again, I will go on record as saying that I trust PB when it comes to player evaluation, he has certainly proved himself in his time on the Hilltop. But if you go on what we know from recruiting services, TCU has an upper hand this year.
That said, I don't think the TCU class is as good as reported. It is interesting because a lot of the 3 star rated recruits that they have coming in 1) committed late and 2) only had one big 12 offer. That is wierd. Usually if it is a highly regarded athlete, if they only declare their intentions in December, they have more offers than that. So, they have a good amount of players that the recruiting services rated as 3 stars, and a 5.5, but you can't really give them a "B" rating, more like a B- or C+, because they didn't get offered by anyone big. Kind of how Meeks was when he came to SMU (if I recall)- 3 stars, but not a lot of other interest.
