http://www.ncaa.org/library/general/tra ... _guide.pdf (page 10) "Generally, if you’re now going full-time to a four-year school and you want to transfer to an NCAA school to play, your current school’s athletics director must give written permission to the new coach or member of the athletics staff before you or your parents can talk with one of them. That’s called having a permission-to-contact letter. You may write to any NCAA college saying that you’re interested in transferring, but the new coach must not discuss transfer opportunities with you unless he or she has received written permission from your current school. If your current school does not give you permission, another school cannot contact you and encourage you to transfer. This does not preclude you from transferring; however, if the new school is in Division I or II, you cannot receive an athletics scholarship until you have attended for one year. Also, if your current school officials do not give you permission to transfer, they must tell you in writing that you have a right to appeal your case. In that instance, a panel of people from your current school who are not involved in athletics will meet to decide the issue." Note: No where does it say a coach can contact you to see if you are interested in transferring, just that you can contact them and then they can only talk to you about transferring after receiving the letter of permission. I'm not saying other schools don't break the rules, just that with our background we had better not.
I have no problem with the mix of JUCOs-I have a problem with JUCO QB option 1 not being admitted by SMU but signing with other teams on our schedule, JUCO QB option No. 2 not being admitted but signing with other teams on our schedule and then having SMU scramble looking for just about any remaining JUCO even if he is a marginal recruit. PK I know the rule-everybody knows the rule, the rule is not what is keeping SMU from getting these transfers-hasn't been for the last 20 years. The reason is transferrable hours and schools to transfer the hours to. You are using the rule as an excuse when it simply is a mirage.
JUCO 1 went to Az St, didn't he? JUCO 2 was admitted, but wasn't promised the starting job, which he was at LT. I liked Slater on film. Much, much more mobile than Eckert, and better arm than Romo. We will see what happens in the sprint game.
Actually Stallion, your reading comprehension is once again shown to be suspect. I never said it was a reason we weren't getting transfers...I merely pointed out to BJ that we cannot agressively go after (i.e., recruit) transfers. They have to come looking for us. How many do look for us and get turned off by the course credit transfer problems I don't know...nor, I suspect, do you.
