Surely by now you have noticed that reading comprehension is not a strong suit on these boards.

Is there not a single thread in which PonyFans can universally support and congratulate a Pony -- or even a future Pony -- on his effort and all the work that went into getting there?

Well done, Mickey. Keep up the good work, and be ready to roll in August!

Maybe you can lobby the webbie for a "Sunshine" board especially for that purpose. I would be my favorite read, for sure....

I did. I supported and congratulated the memory of Michael Carter. WHEN Mr. Dollens finishes his career with spectacular statistics I will do the same for him. His acheivements reminded me of one of our all time greats and I remarked on that. It in no way belittled Mr. Dollens.

Hey I wish the guy all the best too. I also congratulate him on his throw, if it's a personal best. I was just pointing out that you could go to any track meet this Saturday and see someone throw that far.

Dollens will participate in the annual Jim Thorpe All-Star Game. He'll also be at SMU for the annual spring game this weekend. Here's the story:

College football-bound Mickey Dollens of Bartlesville High is reaping the rewards of his hard preparation and noteworthy performance last autumn.

Dollens has been selected to play in the Jim Thorpe All-Star Game on June 2.

The game pits a team of all-stars from the Tulsa urban area against a team from the suburban areas.

Dollens, a two-way lineman at Bartlesville, said he will be working out at Jenks High four days prior to the event, which will be played at Tulsa East Central. Jenks High's Allen Trimble will be head football coach of the suburban team.

“It's an honor,” said Dollens, who has signed a football scholarship with Southern Methodist University. “It feels good to be recognized to play in the Jim Thorpe All-Star game.”

New Bruin head football coach Ron Smith informed Dollens last week of his selection.

“Coach Smith told me he had some mail for me,” said Dollens. “It said I had been selected...Coach Smith told me very rarely do Bartlesville kids play in this game.”

Dollens said he's sure he'll be lined up at defensive tackle.

He also informed SMU and said the coaches there are happy about his selection for this game.

In fact, Dollens will be traveling to SMU this weekend to watch the spring football game.

“The coaches want me down on the sideline,” he said. “They told me they may want me to travel on away games this coming season and they want me to get used to it.”

Dollens is slated to report to SMU in mid-July to begin his college football
career.

Looking forward to seeing a bunch of the signees at the Red/Blue game!
"It's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses."
...
"Hit it."
