what's more that someone could actually hate Rice with a passion is about as low as it gets on the Division 1A totem pole.

I don't think that it is a question of Rice outrecruiting us. I suspect that a big part of his decision to go to Rice has to do with playing time. He has a chance to be a 4 year starter at Rice, while he would be redshirted his freshman year and then be behind Wallis for 2 years before he saw the field of play.

I think he was anticipating the kid's move to tight end under the SMU QB development program.
