This site says he has 21 catches for 447 yards and 6 TDs an average of 21.3 yards per catch. He also has 29 carries for 205 yards and 1 TD. BTW he has a better yards per catch average than UT recruit Curtis Brown who is rated as the No. 3 WR in the country.

yeah, but what's Gilmer? 3A?

yes but they may be the best 3A team in decades. Hasn't Celina moved to 3A. You rarely see 3A teams with 3 Diivision 1A prospects including Brown(UT), Kinne(Baylor and Kennedy(SMU). They are truly dominate at the the 3A Level.

Jerry Bennett had 6 Div 1As when Jefferson won the state title in 3A in 1986. However, I tend to agree with you that one has to remove the handicap applied to 3A and lower classification schools when it comes to recruiting. There are some fantastic players at those levels, but my comfort level goes up when they are putting up consistent, even dramatic, numbers like that.

The Kennedy kid would probably have played QB but for Kinne's xfer.
With Brown there (or at least the assumption he would have been there at the time) would have meant that Gilmer would probably have been just as dominant, but with Kinne there, whew. Man, they are fun to watch.

Jamell Kennedy scored at least one TD on about a 12 yard pass in Gilmer's 66-7 victory over Longview Spring Hill as seen on Texas Prep Xtra Highlight show. UT recruit Curtis Brown caught at least two bombs after returning from injury. Heck Gilmer even has a third receiver named I believe Justin Johnson who appears to have great height and speed who took another one to the house. I believe I've heard some rumblings that Johnson is thought to be a very promising junior.

Johnson is their tailback and is supposed to be one of the top RB recruits in the nation next year.

I still haven't found team stats from last Friday's game but to show you how dominant Gilmer is at the 3A Level, their QB Baylor commit G.J. Kinne threw for 428 yards on Friday Nite---in the first half.

11/10 Gilmer 49-Gladewater 21. Jamell Kennedy caught 3 passes for 85 yards including a 59 yard TD pass. Don't know if he had any rushing yards. Problem with Gilmer is that there is not enough balls to go around for all the tremendous athletes on their team. UT Recruit Curtis Brown 3 catches for 129 yards. Top Junior Justin Johnson ran 9 times for 191 yards and added 2 catches for 47 yards(ie 25 yards every time he touched the Ball!!!). Baylor recruit G.J. Kinne was 12-19 for 300 yards and 5 TDs( 5 TDs on 12 passes!!!). As unbelieveable as Gilmer has been this year-Cuero is actually the No. 1 team in 3A. That would be a showdown.
