I know it crosses the line of taste or recruiting ettiquette, but at the risk of coming across as a totally insensitive cretin, is it worth going after any of the guys who committed to Tulane before they canned Coach Scelfo? Normally, considering the Bennett/Scelfo friendship and the inhuman circumstances with which Tulane had to deal last year (not to mention the fact that SMU gave Tulane its recruiting files), I would never suggest it. But it seems to me that when they fired Coach Scelfo, all of the rules go out the window, and all but one of these guys is from Texas. So here's a list of Tulane commitments, at least the list according to rivals.com -- should our coaches be calling these guys?:
QB Joe Kemp (6-4, 212, 5.05) - North Richland Hills (Richland), Texas
Three stars
Had offers from Tulane and Kansas, and at one point had interest in SMU
WR Taylor Echols (6-2, 180, 4.5) - League City (Clear Creek), Texas
Two stars
Tulane was the only school rivals said he had on his list
OG Dhamari Thomas (6-2, 290) - Galena Park (North Shore), Texas
Two stars
Didn't list SMU on his rivals profile; also had an offer from Louisiana-Lafayette
OLB Cheta Ozougwu (6-3, 215, 4.54, 3.58 GPA, 1450 SAT) - Alief (Taylor), Texas
Two stars
Doesn't have SMU on his profile list; had offers from Houston and Louisiana Tech
OLB Derek Wilson (6-2, 195, 4.6) - East Bernard, Texas
Two stars
Tulane was the only school on his list
K Darren DeRochemont (5-10, 185) - Seffner (Armwood), Texas
Two stars
Tulane was his only offer

There's no breach of any rules here -- other schools are going to negatively recruit our commits, and try to steal them. Coach Bennett might have felt an obligation to not try to steal recruits from Coach Scelfo's staff, but all bets are off now. I do think that it's a little dicey, from a P.R. standpoint, but that doesn't matter in recruiting.
The only three-star guy there is the quarterback, but he can't crack 5.0 in the 40? Give me Logan Turner (and maybe one more -- a JUCO perhaps?) Ozougwu has good height and speed, and might be worth pilfering, too.

Ozougwu sounds appealing. Hope the coaches are calling him.

I hope they are not calling him unless he has contacted our coaches first with the permission to do so from his school...otherwise our coaches would be breaking NCAA rules.

No they wouldn't. He's not signed, he's just committed. Coaches call kids committed to other schools all the time, right up until signing day.

Never mind...you are right, I was thinking we were talking about some of Tulane's players...not recruits. Bad day for my reading comprehension.
