Another SMU Legacy Matt Howe...

Postby Stallion » Sat Dec 02, 2006 12:35 am

...getting some nice offers but apparently SMU is not involved at least according to his most recent report. Father Mark played at SMU in the mid 1970s. Offers from BYU, UTEP, Tulsa and Louisiana Tech and interest in Colorado St and Stanford. He reportedly had impressive mini-camp at SMU earlier this year. His favorite is Stanford and of course they have a very strict admission process and often don't offer until late in the recruiting season-what a surprise they are 1-10 lost to Cal-Davis or something last year

Looks like their new stadium hasn't helped much either.

OK, that makes a little more sense. Last night, you called this kid Mark Early (typo), and I couldn't find out anything about him. For those who aren't aware of the guy, he's a big (6-3, 205, no speed listed) safety. Two stars. Plays at Colleyville HS, and has offers from BYU, LaTech, UTEP and Tulsa. I've read that with his size (and maybe it's a commentary on speed?), there are some who think he might grow into a linebacker at the college level.

I don't get the impression that he has his heart set on Stanford, or anywhere else, because of this quote: "Right now I am kind of interested in Stanford," said Howe. "They have great academics, and I'm planning on majoring in business."

KIND OF INTERESTED? Maybe that means he hasn't been admitted academically, maybe it means he's just balancing his options, maybe it means he hasn't really picked a clear-cut leader. I don't know. If SMU is interested, a lot of players might be interested in a nationally ranked business school that's close enough to home that his family can come see him play, right?

I got mixed up with another SMU Safety from the early 1970s. Realized it a couple of minutes later.

One would hope that you own up to the fact that you didn't break the news about this player. He was discussed in August and September.

You even commented on recruiting thread a couple of months ago that you remembered reading up on him and that you thought you had heard that his dad played for us.

Heritage has an offensive lineman who committed to Wake Forest in October.

I don't what our feeling is about their 2 WRs Breece Johnson and Evan Walker, but they are talking to the likes of Houston, Minnesota, Iowa, Colorado State. No offers or visits set up as of this posting.

Neither is very big but they didn't stumble into 1,000 receiving yards each.

you are tiresome. Look nobody cares about your little infatuation with the media and "who broke the story first". People just want recruiting info and this was an update based on a new Rivals story-ok Blackie Sherrod.

I know. Thank goodness. There are a couple of recruiting positions available on Phil Bennett's staff. He should apply.

Something tells me that there would be a lot of cash flying around if that were to happen!
