Minton was rated 5.5 which hardly guarantees anything more than getting a red jersey asnd standing on the sideline at a BCS school. I'm surprised no one has called you on your Joe Jon Finley cite too. Finley was only a 3 star recruit-although he got some nice offers. He is a multiple year starter on a BCS bowl caliber football team-that's called a recruiting hit-not a miss.
So if we go by your Rivals information -- the same site you blasted a couple of months ago because you called their editors suckups to alumni -- if an athlete doesn't have about 5-6 offers from BCS-caliber schools and whatever that 5.5 thing means, then why did Wisconsin recruit him? To hold a helmet? Surely, you're joking.
When Minton played at Summit, he had the tools to become a Division I player with breakaway speed and size. THAT'S why Wisconsin signed and plus their recruiter for this area, former Arlington Sam Houston coach Jeff Horton, knows this area through and through. And he had a great relationship with former Summit Tim Beck.
Since your opinions are ruled by stars and 5.???, go find Minton's teammate Deon Hightower, who signed with Minnesota. Look up how he was rated by rivals. Look at the schools it came down. Look at how many stars he got.
Now, go find the University of Minnesota's defensive tackle charts.
Looks to me as if another helmet holder is not a helmet holder.
You use the Rivals information only when it fits your argument. You then discredit Rivals because you sure as heck weren't going to let some "novice" recruiting follower get the better of you.
