Michael Fuda - WR Katy HS

Postby MustangIcon » Sun Jan 21, 2007 11:57 am

Portions of a Houston Chronicle article below. Fuda is 6ft 175 lbs 4.4 forty per rivals. Rated 2 star 5.2. Katy is a fantastic program and a 4.4 forty is great even if the guy turns out to be 5'11 rather than a legit 6 footer. Obviously college coaches know far more than I do but I am curious as to how the kid does not have any offers yet.

Michael Fuda, the 6-0, 180-pound senior isn't physically imposing. But when the helmet and pads are on he's one of the most dangerous offensive weapons in the area.

The numbers speak for themselves: 107 receptions for 2,137 yards in the last two seasons. But there's something that doesn't add up — while many schools have showed interest in the 2005 all-state selection, Fuda has yet to receive a Division I football scholarship offer.

Fuda, who has been the primary receiving option in the Tigers' passing game the last two years, was one of the vital parts of the 2005 team that went all the way to the Class 5A Division II state championship before falling to Southlake Carroll. His 63 receptions, 1,399 yards and 19 touchdowns were almost unheard of in a place where the offense has been traditionally run-heavy.

In 2006, with the graduation of former quarterback Andy Dalton, the Tigers returned to a more run-oriented attack and, naturally, Fuda's statistical production decreased (44 receptions, 738 yards). Rather than complain, Fuda became a threat in Katy's short passing game. Fuda also excelled as a punt returner and the Tigers thrived.

Rivals says NM State has offered him now. No mention of SMU, although the kid appears to really want to go to TCU.

Free four years in Las Cruces vs. walk on and mom and dad pay for TCU...if it was my kid, he'd be an Aggie (not the Texas kind). Especially if he wants to be an engineer.

From the chronicle recruiting blog:

Malatesta said that New Mexico State offered Fuda earlier in the season but withdrew when he didn't quickly decide to commit.

Also noticed he is on the Chronicle Area 100 list.
