No opinion at QB-not going to touch it-but I will give some information on which to judge whether that was likely. Turner was verified at 5-11.5 by Rivals. He was verified at 5-11 by Scout. There are only 4 other QBs committed to all Division 1A schools less than 6-0 tall-almost all of the QB at 6-0 are verified, but there could be a couple of more unverified guys listed at 6-0 or 6-1 who might be less than 6-0-I just don't know. Houston, Southern Miss, North Carolina St. and Middle Tennessee are the only schools that committed QBs less than 6-0. Most of those guys have the quickness to play other positions.
Had a long explanation why Turner wasn't Div1 material, but decided against it because bottom line I hope he does well. Playing for his dad probably got him his stats, but there are too many negatives in his game to overlook well beyond his size.
Ints-28 ints his last 2 years. Arm strength-57 yards is his longest TD and only 20 was through the air. However, he fits Bennett's offense to a T which is a good thing. He has enough zip on the ball, very mobile and can throw on the move. Springtown obviously threw it around a lot and there offense was closer to the old run-n-shoot than the spread. Unfotunately, while fun to watch, they weren't very successfull with it.
You'll need to explain to me what exactly Bennett's offense is, I don't think he even knows. What are the negatives about his game? I know nothing more than what is posted here. #NewLobCity
go to his Game File which I just bumped-I had a post after every one of his games. I thought he had more than 20 TD passes though. I thought he threw 6 in one game.
UPDATE: I had him with 28 passing TDs in 10 games-not bad with 2 separate 6 TD passing games. Someone else posted he had 32 TD passes. BTW Turner moved with his Dad from Sulpher Springs to Springtown and they had to put in a new offense. Started out pretty slow but obviously the offense got much more productive as the season went along.
Logan Turner has really good arm strength and the quickest release I've seen in some time. You don't put up 4,000 yds and 41 TD's (in 10 ball games) and not have some talent. He did that in a brand new school with players around him that have never been in that type of offense.
If I'm not mistaken Sulphur Springs (his previous school) is in the same district with Texarkana (Ryan Mallett - Michigan) and Logan was the MVP of the district. That tells you something about him too. Ultimately, he will have to prove his ability on the grass like all players do. I'm sure in being the coaches kid, he has dealt with that before. I think SMU got a steal in LT and the Mustang coaches should be commended for holding on to him.
Maybe that the part that PB is talking about when he say he's forgotten more about football than we'll ever know.
