obviously not as bad as you and the SMU athletic program. Check it out-I get it right every year. There is no one on this board that has better proven track record on SMU athletics and its just killin' you ain't it. You goin' to cry about it? [deleted]

Sometimes great players slip through the cracks and emerge in lesser known programs. Brett Farve, Jerry Rice, Walter Peyton, and Darrell Green come to mind. They hold some sort of records in the NFL don't they?

Those all came into the NFL pre-BCS. I think you will see less and less of that happening in the future. LT from TCU is a recent exception and he has not yet reached the glory of the ones you mentioned, but certainly has the potential.

I think Rice, Green and Peyton all went to 1-AA schools.

There will always be pro prospects from 1AA. That is where the transfers from BCS schools go to play. We are in a "no mans" zone in that we can not complete with the BCS schools initially and we can not get the transfers without them having to sit a year. Also casualties to grades that are BCS signable will end up at Div 1AA. We are lost in the middle.

there'a difference between whinning and correctly pointing out the deficiencies in our program. I painted a roadmap 10 years ago on this board re what needed to be done-if there would have been a message board 20 years ago I would have pointed it then too. I've been bitched at by a lot more intelligent and articulate cheerleaders than your [deleted] about just about every proposal I made along the way- guess what now most of those proposals are the "conventional wisdom" today and everybody knew it all along. [deleted]. Pay attention the day SMU has a strong athletic program will be the day all those proposals are implemented. I'm am not advocating a single thing that Phil "Junior College" Bennett and Matt "Prep School" Doherty aren't advocating themselves. What side are YOU on?

Well then if your proposals are so on the mark-and I'm not saying they aren't, and you live right here in Dallas, why don't you take just a little time and spend a couple of hours a month volunteering for the athletic department. Delivering these proposals in person to people that care will be more effective than throwing them up on a message board, regardless of how much Richard Sweet reads it.

That's how I feel, so I did it. Now granted I'm still a student without a job, family, house, mortgage, etc. but we still can use all the help we can get and would love to see some more alum involvement and fresh ideas.

Even if your disillusioned and bitter about the past twenty years

Can I pay $50 in Stallion's name. I'm not saying I will but maybe one you big bucks guys can float him a loan. I'm a little short right now what with gas prices and all. Stallion if you can find it in your wallet to come up with $50 you will take away a lot of ammunition from the not-so-enlightened. I give $50 every year no matter what. As soon as we make it to a bowl I'm upping it by 10%. Join me Stallion.

Hey, Al Gore  ("I invented the internet"), this board wasn't in existence 10 years ago. If I am mistaken (which I don't believe that I am), neither you nor I were on it, and considering I enlisted here prior to you on this board (check the dates, counselor), I think I'd know.

A suggestion, and I know that you don't care, but here goes anyway: stop sounding shrill...you are in charge of your own ability to get a message across, and that isn't just blurting it out nor is it PVA (proof by vigorous assertion)...it's selling it...and if you aren't going to sell it, then you are truly just babbling on to hear yourself talk...the fact that you are correct a lot of the time is a function of quantity of babble...even a blind squirrel finds an acorn.... :o

There is no such thing as a message being more important than its delivery. But there is such a thing as a message being more important than its deliverer, and in all our cases, I believe that's true here. Don't know whether my comments fall on to deaf ears or not given how defensive you tend to be about it, but hey, I figure I leave you alone enough you ought to realize I am not digging at you with malice aforethought.

Stallion, just keep on being you. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I have no doubt that you will do just that. Just give me a team with a few hidden Jerry Rice's, Darrell Green's and Walter Peyton's, just one more time before I go to that great internet in the sky.
