I do not disagree but I believe you are missing the point. Are there equally qualified local or state players who give us a cold shoulder in recruiting. If so, why and what do we do about it? Secondly, are we making a strong effort to recruit equally qualified local and state players. If not, why? Is it because our comfort level in recruiting is elsewhere. I want the best possible player and if they are out of state so be it but I believe we can find some of these players in our backyard and the program needs them.

On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney? Good, Bad...I'm the one with the gun.
Why shouldn't our coaches go out of state to recruit? If you notice, most of the local kids want to leave home and go somewhere else to school. Yes, it is nice to get local recruits because their families will come to watch them at games. However, if the best kids want to leave town, than it makes sense to go out of town to recruit kids that want to leave their home to go somewhere else. Dallas is a great destination if you are from the upper midwest. We just haven't put our name on the radar screen for these kids to consider in the past 6 years. Its time for that to change!
Again ... what difference does it make? Say Coach Doherty finds two guys of about the same size and athleticism, and thinks each is capable of contributing the same number of points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks  whatever. Why should it matter where the kid is from? If Coach D thinks these are the four best players we can get, their home state means nada.
