Exactly. Learn from our past mistakes-- the last coaching staff polished a rough gem in Rogers @ DE-- then forgot to recruit for his future replacement. We need a QB every year...
exactly right! starters get injured. we could use a top quality juco for depth and a freshman (smith) for the future in this group.

I can't believe South Carolina Upstate isn't on that list.

The gospel according to Spurrier.
I guess it's too early to call this guy a commitment, but I bet we get him.

I think it is supposed to be MIMES. They would be much better if the defense did not find it so easy to read the plays called in the huddle.

This guy should be denied simply for having to consider whether to go here versus those schools.

Colorado School of Mines
Whenever pony fans need to use a derogatory name for a lesser school, this should be the default.
We can officially retire Oklahoma School for the Blind and Singapore Management University...

I watched Bo Mitchell grow as a QB over the past two years in comparison to Andrew Luck, the #1 QB in the state and #4 in the nation, who is headed to Stanford.
Mitchell is a late bloomer. He started as a junior but was basically letting Katy's awesome running game carry the load. Towards the end of his junior season Bo started to throw the ball much better and at times he was carrying the load because defenses were loading up against Katy's great RB, Aundre Dean.
This past summer I saw him in 7-on-7 tournaments and he really impressed. He doesn't have the size or the impeccable fundamentals of Andrew Luck, but he has a heck of a strong arm, is accurate, and he makes great decisions. Katy had the best 7-on-7 team around, and it was because of Bo Mitchell. He had one game against Stratford in which he thoroughly outclassed Luck. (Those were few and far between).
Katy dominated the 5A classification this year from start to finish, and Katy threw the ball more than I've ever seen them. Bo's 39 TDs and 4 ints his senior season demonstrates that great decision-making ability and accuracy. He had four TDs in the state championship game.
He's a leader and a winner. Katy runs a Pro-I offense so Bo will have an adjustment to make to a spread offense, but that's what redshirt years are all about.
Does anybody remember why McIlhenny was great? He was a winner. That's what Bo is, I think he'll be a real contributor to SMU's turnaround.

Stallion wrote:I really wish we would get over this idea that you only recruit 1 good player at every position. Give me backfield depth like Dickerson, James and Waggonner then followed by a freshman like Reggie Dupard then replaced by a Jeff Atkins(5 US Top 250 Players). Good players want to play for good programs. At least at QB and WR that's what we should hope to get from a Jones hire (of course to a lesser CUSA degree). Big Daddy understands getting quality depth. Remember Hawaii wouldn't have made it to the BCS or Sugar Bowl w/o a cameo appearance of Tyler (whatshisname) in the Nevada game. At WR we are going to need about 8 quality receivers.
Stallion, the only problem with that is kids and parents are getting smarter about where they play college sports. One of the big issues is playing time and playing NOW. The other issue is this. You do not have to attend a USC, OU, or even Texas anymore to be seen or heard of. If you are good enough they will find you at SMU. Ask Justin Rogers (spelling). So why go and sit somewhere for 2-3 years when you can go somewhere else and play now. Even SMU had nine televised games this past season.

Don't know that I'd put Mitchell in the sam class as Luck, late bloomer or not, but he's a solid QB with a major upside. Jones could really do wonders with this kid...and yeah, like others I'm kinda shocked he hasn't put the word down.
