Maximun Scholarships Available

Postby mustangbill67 » Sat Jan 26, 2008 11:54 pm

Does anyone know the maximum number of scholarships we have available out of the 85 limit? I know this is a moving target. By my count, we graduated 15 this year but I do not know if all of them were on scholarship. In addition, I know we have lost some players for various reasons. I also doubt we were at the full limit beginning the year. So if JJ does give around 20, which is what I believe the DMN article said, I wonder how many he has in his back pocket for transfers and late qualifiers. This number may be on a need to know basis :)

So if we're graduating 15, plus D.J. Emerson and Ryan Leonard are gone, does that mean 17? Or are there other spots freeing up?

And apparently Columbus Givens is gone, right?

Patrictk Strodman-I'm sure we could take a full class. Some are going to be run off we the new Coach.

Givens was still here last week, he is trying to get some school related things ironed out.

It remains baffling that Givens would leave with a passing coach like JJ arriving

I'd prefer that Givens stays. He's shown some flashes and I think with another year away from his illness, he's gotta be at full strength. That, plus a pass happy offense, I think his number would get called a lot - right behind Sanders.

I agree. I think he has the potential to be a great player here. If he leaves, I think it's a mistake on his part, but then again I don't know the whole story of what was going on behind the scenes while he was ill. Either way, I wish him the best. I believe he truly gave it his all while he was here. Good luck, CG, whereever you end up.
